The closing event is the\u00a0Cavalcata Sarda\u00a0(Sardinian Cavalcade), dating back to the end of the 19th century. This enchanting event includes hundreds of horsemen and horsewomen and thousands of islanders in costume, parading through Sassari.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a dancing procession the day before the <em>Ferragosto<\/em> holiday, which has remained the same for 5 centuries called the Discesa dei Candelieri\u00a0(Descent of the candlesticks) in Sassari.
